The Rwanda Cinema Centre (RCC) is a community-based organization established in 2003. The Centre’s goal is to develop an alternative sector in Rwanda’s economy. This is being undertaken by creating an environment equipped in audiovisual, and human resources. The facilities bolster high technology to advance film industry ideas, products, and services. The RCC intends to influence policy makers and partners in development to participate by supporting this emerging industry in Rwanda. The establishment has developed skills and films to enable the self-employment culture to take root with those whom it has trained. It is its mission to train in all skills related to audiovisual and filmmaking.
This approach is already being adapted in Uganda and Kenya through our advice and participation. Using the principal of learning by doing, currently the Centre offers its training through the local personnel who have undergone rigorous practical training and contribute very much in the trainings and production facilitations arising in the region. The pool of trained personnel is ever growing with some already attached to international production houses and offering their skills in specific areas of needs.
